Well bloody hell. The meeting with the map people went really well. We are going to look at me doing the sales for a few local NZ areas and maybe one in Australia. They will produce the map for me and I can piggy back off their printer here in NZ. I know the whole point was to use my printer in India, but really the price is only a couple of thousand cheaper and the security of having a printer that is close at hand and has done this before out weights the benefit of saving a couple of thousand. having them only be the contractor to produce my maps relieves that pressure that they might take over territorys i create a map for. They were really nice and Id trust them. And they were really open with their costs and sources.

So then I have this guy in the UK that is now hot to get in touch with me to talk about me coming over to the south of France to renovate his historic farmhouse. Sheesh. I don't know what to do. I guess it sort of depends on what he is offering, but wow how much more can you offer with a deal like going to France and being paid! I know he wants me ASAP, and theres the problem. I have these maps now that need my attention. So do I blow the maps and go for safety with a solid job, or do I go for it and try to get the maps in production and in the mean time use up all the last of my money. Something else about the maps. They sell the ads on their Taupo one in March and April. That means me staying here until then which I was going to do, then sell the ad spots of at least the Rotorua map in April also then it makes perfect timing to go to Australia and sell the map there for June. So the timing is perfect, but no money from those until I delivered a few months later, and then there is all the issue of collecting money etc.I'll have to look at the final numbers when I see what they will charge for makng the map and printing.

The sensible thing is to go to France earn some money and come back next year. But I guess until I know what this guy is offering, I can't make any firm plans. Add to that the guy with the trail building emailed again and offered if I will work for him for a month in Nelson he will offer me a place in Chile! Of course Id still need a work permit for NZ which I don't think I can get. But I could offer to help for free for a month. Damn 3 really good opportunities, but I can only take one of them.

Well the maps isnt something you can just do for a day or two. I have to make some serious commitments on one or the other at some point soon.

Wow, when it rains it pours eh? I don't know what opportunity you should chase, but I hope whatever course you choose works out really well.

yeah but I guess its raining in a good way. Better to have too much choice than non at all. But then I've always been good at finding work when I needed it.

wow...lots of good options. Good luck choosing one! Can the maps be worked on from one of the other places? Or do you have to be in NZ to work on the maps?

Yeah really my whole point of wanting to do the maps was that it will allow me to travel and produce maps. But I need to get the experience of producing a few and thats going to be best done here in NZ with the guys I'm in touch with. The timing is a bit tight, as they say they will start selling ad spots for theirs in March/April and these other two offers are for around that same time.
