Common Wealth Games Delhi India
Oct. 10th, 2010 10:33 pmI knew the games were on, but hadnt really thought about going to see anything figuring it would be too much of a circus. There's been a lot of press about how the Indians have screwed everything up for the games and I have to say its all pretty much true. I arrived in Delhi this morning and after checking into my hotel went across the street for breakfast and met a couple of Aussies. They were had been to a few events and told me the cycling was going on today. Ow if there was anything that id want to see that would be at the top of my list. The 3 of us jumped on the train and got off at the appropriate station, only to be turned away by the huge crowds of military. They told us the station is closed due to the race, ah yeah thats why we are here. But things are so messed up somehow the military have been told not to let anyone near the event! Eventually after being turned away a few more times, we found some guys that we managed to intimidate to letting us past. Scored a official water bottle thrown from one of the riders too. I think this will become a sought after memento as these games will have to go down in history as the worst organized ever.

It was weird to watch these races and be one of maybe 10 other people that had managed to get in. The only others were coaches, or family. But it also meant I got to rub elbows with some of the top trainers and sports directors in the Commonwealth.

The winner an Aussie that was in the front runners for the whole race won. 100miles in 3.52 shit or was it 3.32? I think it might have been 3.32
