So I'm off on my travels again. I rode the bus from Rotorua to Auckland, leaving Rotorua at 8.30am after getting up at 6.00am to do the last minute things. The bus had about 15 of us aboard. It was quiet with a few couples talking in subdued voices. It suddenly occurred to me as we whisked past green fields, volcanic cones and sheep, that I was really going to miss this and I was about to be cast back into the bubbling turmoil of Asia. Soon my ears would be ringing with the constant horns of traffic and the voices of millions of people shouting all at once. I was sad.

Everything went easy with the flight to Melbourne. Only once I got to Melbourne did I realize I had a 7 hour layover! I wondered around the airport of a bit then found Mc Donalds and decided to get something to eat. After I got my order I went to find a seat and there was this cute Asia girl sitting behind me. Id noticed her in waiting room in Auckland and told her so. She had a mouth full of burger, but smiled and nodded. After she finished her meal she started talking to me. Turned out she was on the same flight to K/L as well! She works for Air Asia the flight we were about to get on. So when we finally went up to check in she was like the big star and knew some of the staff as they were boarding us. We had a great time and of course she is now on my FB! It was kind of cool when we landed because the "team leader' of the flight asked us to buy some duty free smokes for one of the crew. So we met with them after we all got through the airport. So I was sitting there with all these cute Air Asia flight attendants at a cafe. Malaysians are such an awesome and interesting mix of different countries. My friend is Tamil from Sri Lanka. Although she is third generation Malay.

Getting on the bus from the airport to downtown K/L I was exhausted. Id been traveling for 30 hours now. I fell into a deep sleep on the bus and was only woken when someone getting off the bus nudged me to let me know we were here. bleary eyed I staggered off the bus and jumped on the escalator to the main level of the busy train station. It was at the top of the escalator I suddenly realized Id left my backpack on the bus!! I ran back down the stairs and one of the bus guys had the bag on his shoulder. Im not sure what he was intending to do, probably holding on to it till I got there, but he looked a bit sorry that I was asking for it back.

Its so nice to have an idea of the area and how things work. I jumped on the train for the two stops to my guest house, got checked in and showered and then back out the door to go arrange for my visa for India. Even that went pretty smoothly. Dropped by a couple of other guest houses, just to check them out. I usually stay at the same place, but Ive wanted to experiment with a few different places.

After being fearful and sad about leaving New Zealand for the craziness of Asia I was glad that once I got here, ive been reunited with the smiles and laughing of these happy people, and remembered what I love about it. Being around travelers again is kind of fun too. So off to a good start.
