starry starry night
Apr. 7th, 2010 10:56 pmIt rained most of yesterday and by the time I got to blue lake and got changed to run it had started raining hard. Oh well you can only get so wet. I actually like running in the rain. I put in one lap and felt really strong. Came back to the van and some crazy tourist kids were running to jump in the lake. Couldnt be out done by them so I joined in. It was actually not bad..ok no it was freezing, but after the run it felt pretty good. It rained really hard during the night and today was kind of cloudy and cold. I was in the van all day working on AI. Had a meeting with the graphic designer again and she gave me some more pointers, but sort of left me more confused than when I started. i must have improved though as I was able to show her some things she didn't know about the program!
Tonight the sky cleared and it was the most beautiful starry night. Since I hadnt been out all day decided to go for a walk down by the lake. The air has that crisp wintry chill. A few stars were out, but as I got to the lake and away from any man made light, my eyes adjusted to the dark and all of a sudden millions of stars were out. Above me was this puffy cloud trailing across the sky from one horizon to the other. It looked like the drifting white trail of a jet plane high in the sky but 50 times bigger. This was the milky way. It really does look like milky beam of light, filled with so many stars its just amazing. Within 5 minutes Id seen 3 shooting stars, but I guess that was just luck as I didn't see another in the next 20 minutes that I stood dead still in the pitch darkness with my neck craned up at the sky. How can there possibly be a God when you see something like that. Something so spectacular, so perfect. How can there be a God that creates something like that, that can create everything around us we see in such perfection and detail and then lets a kid die in some gruesome way, or some maniac murder hundreds of people. Its just not possible. I found some really cool quotes the other day from famous people that are atheist. Interesting indeed.
I went to the dentist the other day to ask about my gum. made an appointment and she asked about insurance. Reminded me to look up my travel insurance policy. From what I can tell I seem to have forgotten to renew it since April last year. Im pretty sure thats wrong and my account has got messed up somewhere. As far as the dentist is concerned it wont make any difference anyway. I have a $100US deductible, and the check up is only $90NZ. Of course if its something major there could be an issue and it might be nice to have the insurance back in place. Need to get it sorted anyway, so this was all a good wake up call.
Ok here is Lake tarawera the next lake up the road from Blue lake. The volcano in the distance blew its top back in 1886 and buried a Maori village and raised the water level 12 meters. More tragic to the Maoris was the destruction of the Pink and white terraces, massive silica deposits that had formed and were a world wide attraction.

My lovely Blue lake even on a cloudy rainy day. Actually I think it looks even nicer. I didn't realize Id taken two pictures panning around the lake, tried to stitch them but it needs a series of pictures to do a proper stitch so this is kind of distorted.

Date: 2010-04-08 01:49 pm (UTC)people have always assumed that heaven will be all nice and stuff and hell will be horrible...yet we have no one to tell us for a fact that these beliefs are true...all this is based upon history storys which have been handed down generation after generation...stories change from person to person...
