I realized a few minutes ago that I havent talked on here about my mother in a while. Travel will do that to you, takes your mind off a lot of daily clutter. I've often wondered if thats why some people travel. Its really just another form of denial. Travel allows you, like TV or drinking to turn your mind off from things you need to face. The fact is I still havent heard a word from my mother. Ive heard through my brother on FB that she gets my post cards and keep sending them. Humm not much of a response really. I gave her an open door to say something and shes still decided not to enter. So that really is why I havent talked about her, theres nothing to update.
I ran and swam today at the scene of the xterra races. It will be my main training ground and I was interested to see how my running a familiar course would go. I felt really strong going out, but hit the big hill and it was hurting in my thighs. But I managed to keep going, only place I had to walk was on the huge climb up the steps. I did a time not far under what I was doing when I left 9 months ago of 36 mins, but of course that is only one lap and there is two in the race and a huge mountain bike ride to complete first! The swim after felt really good. I love/hate that lake. Its freezing cold, but the water is so amazingly clear and so scarily deep. The lake is in a volcanic crater and thousands of feet deep, just feels strange sometimes to be swimming over that. I forgot to stretch. It started to rain as I got out of the water and I was just glad to get in the van out of the rain and out of my crazy tight wetsuit. Was it always that tight? Im sure I havent gained any weight. I thought actually Id lost some.
Im back on the big laptop. Wow its like the Cadillac of laptops, and the screen looks huge after my little travel one, but it also weighs about 3 times as much. I need to transfer over my writing docs. Maybe try to figure out the networking again, which both computers are capable of Speaking of computers. I was excited to get this one back from Greg so I could check out the CD from the shit bag in India that I did the deal with selling my bike to. I gave him a really cheap price with him giving me some top line computer programs that i could create websites and do my map layouts with. Well I knew he had pirated the programs, but the shit has given me the 30 day trial copies and then given me some sort of docs for how to crack the codes. Little fuck, he told me it was all ready to go copies of the programs.
Just like my races. I jump in and sign up for them then worry about the training to get me through them. I take on other tasks in the same manor. I emailed this mountain biking magazine today asking if they were interested in a story from NZ and others from my Malaysia and Thailand mountain biking experiences. Amazingly about 2 hours later I had an email from the editor saying "yes" crips! now I have to write something. Checking out other mountain bike magazines today I came across another one that said it paid 10c a word for a typical 3,500 word article. They apologized that it wasnt much, so makes me wonder what the guys in the UK will pay.
