Mar. 30th, 2011 12:46 pmRan twice round the lake yesterday. Did the first lap at a slower steady pace and then actually felt better on the second lap. Forgot to look at the time when I finished, but after washing off in the lake and a little swim it had still only been 1.20, so hoping the run was around 1- 1.05.
I've been doing a little grounds maintenance around the campsite in lou of rent. Saves me $72 bucks a week, but it comes with a few frustrations. Kevin doesn't maintain any of his tools or equipment. The garage is stacked with shit and you can't find anything. The first time I used the ride on lawn mower, the blade bearing were shot, the deck was broken, there was no gas and it had a flat tire! Now I go to use the weed sprayer and the nozzle is broken, then switch to use the strimmer and there is no gas.
I should swim again today, but I should also bike. My legs feel a little sore today after the run yesterday and after the frustration with landscaping I don't even feel like swimming now. It doesn't take much and down the depression tube we go.
turned in Shantaram yesterday at the library. I hadn't finished it, but it was due back and again there is a waiting list for it, so couldn't re check it out. I don't think I'll bother finishing it. There's nothing to learn from it and its just a slog getting through his crap writing style and bullshit. Picked up Dune. I didn't realize the history of this book, so although si fi isn't something I'd normally be interested in, thought it might still be worthwhile reading.
Theres a cyclone (hurricane) twirling around somewhere in the pacific thats due to dump some rainy weather on us next week. So far its looking like it might extend through to the weekend of the race. I actually like to race in severe conditions. I know that others hate racing in bad conditions and I have a perverse desire that others suffer. It makes me go harder. It reminds me of James Garner in Grand Prix. I'm pretty sure it was that movie I saw as a kid and Garner is talking about how when someone else crashes, thats when he puts his foot down and goes faster, because he knows everyone else is looking at the crash and slowing down.
