Mar. 29th, 2011 11:26 amOn Friday night it pissed down rain all night. Saturday morning was a little foggy on the mountain pass over to Blue lake where i was to meet the group that was pre riding the race course. I was late and they were leaving as I was pulling in. I caught them on frontal lobotomy the really hard single track climb after climbing red tank road. G and his wife were with another guy and they were somewhere out front, they had started 20 mins ahead of the group. The course was a mess after the rain. It makes it so much harder and slower going. I rode pretty hard all the way through trying to catch them, but never did. Pulling into the parking lot at the lake and there is G and his wife and this other guy just going out running! Sheesh. She ran once round 6km and he did the full race course of twice round. Turns out this guy is S's brother and does some serious races too. G's wetsuit fits perfect, a bit tight in the arms, so I need to practice with it so my arms dont get too tired. So looks like I'm totally committed to the race now.
Wow nothing on Sunday? is that right? How did that happen, weird I can't even remember. Monday I swam at the pool. Only did sets of 400 since its been a while since I was in the pool. Went ok. 2000m
Maps.
its on, its off, its on. I duno I need to pull the pin soon and get going on the design of the Byron map. trouble with Byron is although when I was there I got some good response to a new map, with all Ive learned now I need to get much more info from Byron to find out if its feasible. I might try some emails, but without a face to face and nothing to show them, its hard to gauge the response. If the Byron map didn't sell out the 40 spots, id be $10,000 closer to being broke and not enough money to carry on with Rotorua. trouble is I have to commit to Rotorua before Id even see any money coming back in from Byron. Common sense says don't do it. Go to Europe and get a job. But I don't want to give up and its the perfect timing, oh and I don't have common sense. If I leave it, someone else will be in there for sure.
