race nearly here!
Apr. 8th, 2010 08:45 pmOh crap, I can't believe this race is nearly here, two days. Luckily the weather looks like it will be holding. We have in New Zealand at the moment, what they call an anticyclone over the whole island, so its keeping all the nasty stuff off shore. I swam in the pool today, nothing big, just maybe 1000meters. My wrist hurt more than anything. This morning everything hurt. I havent mountain biked since the wreck, so not even sure how its going to work out on the bike when I start jumping up and down on the track. I'll find out tomorrow when I have a little pre ride.
Dentist called today to ask if I could come in today for a spot that had come open. Nice guy from Scotland. Couldnt find anything wrong and thinks it might be a sensitivity issue from receding gums at that area. It was worth the 75clams to have that knowledge and feel less worried about it.He said eventually it would de sensitize, which I guess it has somewhat over the last 3 months.
Found GPS unit on a site kinda like ebay here in New Zealand. I'll probably end up paying about $100us more than I could get it in the US. But since Ive now run out of time and this comes with a south pacific and Asia base map, plus i'll have a warranty that is worth something here, then I guess I need to bite the bullet and do it.
I stopped in at a local printers the other day and asked to get a quote for the maps. gave them the same info as I did in India. Got the quote today and its interesting that per unit I get .12c in New Zealand and in India 10c per unit both on a 50,000 print. thats over 2 thousand dollars difference, but I still thought it would be more. Does explain how they are getting them done here and able to sell ad spots at $390 a year. I mean that was just a walk in price i got, I wonder if they can go lower. It also makes me wonder, especially how things work in India, how much lower I can get them to come down. Sent an email to a friend I know in the print business in Atlanta and asked her if she could give me like her insider quote price. Its all good information to have.
