Thursday I drove down to Taupo to meet with the cartographer guy. He was informative, but he is more a geek sort of guy and has fallen into a need to use computers and so it was difficult for him to explain things to me in a simple straightforward way. But in all it was a worth while meeting. I now have a little bit more information and a direction to go in to create my own maps. Some of the programs I knew. Im still not sure I even need some of the fancy ones, although Adobe illustrator for sure.

Was going to bike with Janet at a sort of weekly locals time trial race after the meeting, but I was partly half between when the race was starting and then wanting to get home and eat, then it started raining too, so it made it easy for me to keep driving and head home. Was cruising along and something wasnt feeling right with the van. I pulled over and the tire was flat! I couldnt even feel it when I was driving, and all the damn people that I let go past me, said nothing. So I was on a pretty busy road with trucks whizzing past and had to change the tire. Id never even looked at the spare and luckily it was usable. All the time Im thinking anytime now a cop is going to come by and stop to help and then see I dont have a registration. Just as I got finished and was driving off here comes the cop! phew. By the time I got going, I felt like taking a dip in a hot spring that Id been to last year. Its an awesome spring that comes up under a river that runs really hot, with little waterfall that you can get under and get a water massage from too.

Friday I got two used tires from some cool guys at a scrap yard. Then went up to the lake and did two full laps around. The first lap I finally broke the 30 min mark and did the two in a little over an hour. today I was tired but not sore. Made it out to the redwoods and did a 3 hour bike. i was completely exhausted by the end of that.

So workouts are going surprisingly well. Im totally ahead of schedule. I'm behind schedule with learning webdesign and map making though. I reloaded Coffee cup and I'll start working through those tutorials again. Then I need to commit to buying a GPS and learning all the ins and outs of that and the mapping software.

Oh there was possibly good news with the Wof too. Janet said her garage down in Taupo are really good guys, she spoke to them and they said to bring it on in. Hopefully it will pass with them. Might have to wait till thursday now though and I can then do the race down there and kill two birds with one stone.

Weather has been fantastic. warm in the day and really chilly at night. a little rain now and again, but nothing heavy.

I cant believe this internet is still working, I have to be way over the data usage by now. Not complaining on that one! lets hope it lasts.
