A dogs Life
Dec. 18th, 2016 11:49 amI was feeding the pups the other day. Id put the bowls down and was in the kitchen and thought best take a look because marely has been stealing bruces food. Sure enough marley was at bruces bowl. I know what is going on. Marley is starting to feel like he has a threat with Bruce. Bruce generally lets marley be top dog, but bruce could easily take him and Marley knows it, so he acts up to try to reinforce his position.
It made me think of my childhood and the way my brother use to act towards me. I never had the protective, or show you the ropes kind of older brother. he was a narsistic, ignorant asshole. but on reflection maybe he was just threatened too. We have these primal instincts that we have blocked out, but they must still be hardwired in to us.
One of the examples that I thought of was when I was somewhere between maybe 7 and 10 Id guess. My brother is 3 years older. We were in the garden and had this comb. It was plastic with a long round handle like a pencil. For some reason my brother had grabbed me and sat on me and then was trying to push the handle into my ear. It obviously hurt and scared the hell out of me and I was screaming. My mum came out to see what was going on and of course my brother had jumped off and pretending he didnt know what was wrong. i told my mum and she freaked out. She grabbed my brother and the comb and started to actualy do the same to him. It was quite scary and both my brother and i were feaking out. I don't know if it was a good lesson for him, it never changed his attitude, and it didnt really give me much confidence in my mum to act rationally, but more as a bully the same as him.
