rogerdogerWell it seems the tri Lance is coming to Rotorua for is already full! :( I might still be able to enter a duathon the day before, but that seems to defeat the point, which was to do a race with Lance in it. Come to think of it, why would I want to do that anyway? Had another good run tonight. Amazing that Ive done a pretty good workout 3 days in a row and not felt a hint of tiredness from my legs. Am I in better shape than I think, or a, I not going hard enough? Maybe a bit of both. I tell you one thing, if I did have any advantage from being at altitude, its all gone now. I was huffing and puffing really hard all the way through todays run. Swim was a little better too, water temp is soooo perfect, well perfect in a wetsuit. I duno how those others could have been swimming today without one.
Seemed to be a bit of a day of drama. When I first got to Byron Id payed a visit to a backpackers bar that advertised on a map. I got the email address of their marketing manager and emailed her. Eventually she emailed back a very short note of "thanks but not interested". I thought it was kind of strange, just that she turned it down point blank. I finally got around to emailing her this morning asking would she mind explaining why she wouldnt be interested in the same product with better features at a lower cost. She write me back. "I appreciate your disappointment, but im not going to discuss or explain our marketing strategy to you" Wow, I must have hit a nerve there. not sure what would warrant her to be so curt, especially when Im trying to save her money. Anyway I couldnt help myself and wrote back to her saying, no of course you dont have to explain your plans to me, but you might have to explain to your boss why you spent so much money on advertising when you could have gone with a cheaper and better service. Of course never heard back from that one.
So then this afternoon I get an email from.... dumb ass in India that I did the motorcycle tour for. he just writes,
just a quick email to you to wish you a merry christmas, because we know we will and a fact that we look forward to seeing you in Manali in the next year 2011
A very official welcoming party has been readied for you and we await your arrival and good things come to those who wait
Now I was really tempted and still am to fire off all sorts of responses to this. I wrote a couple out but then canceled them. During my run that little fuck came into my head more times than I want, which is none. The wisest thing to do is the same as I ended up doing with his other threat, which was to ignore it. And hopefully if I can get passed a couple of days I think I'll be able to let it drop. The fact that he is writing to tell me there is an official party to welcome me, tells me there is nothing, you don't go telling someone that. So I can only take it that his email is his pathetic attempt to stop me coming back to Manali because he knows I can cause a whole lot of trouble for him. But why tell him that? No just keep quiet and to be honest Im not sure when Im going back to Manali and whether I even will go back yet. If I don't get anything for the sponsorship then there might not be any point.
