Just a few pictures from a recent trip, which actually im still on and stuck trying to get over Rohtang La. Its been 4 days now that they've been trying to clear a landslide. today that had it cleared only to have a fuel truck slide off the road right at the landslide and so I spent another day waiting for a chance to get through that never happened.

thanks. I was borrowing a friends camera, a Nikon, but I totally hate it, the light meter is terrible and you cant see anything in the tiny digital screen. But glad I got some good shots out of it.

It's a beautiful place to be stranded... In the second photo, what are all those vehicles? Have they been sitting there stranded there for 4 days too? (with such narrow roads, it seems like it would be hard to back up or turn around...)

yeah it was miserable when it was cold, but with the sun out not too bad. This is a major, in fact only road to Leh from this side of the Himalaya, so there are hundreds of trucks daily crossing. Those trucks had all been stuck for nearly a week I believe. But they all carry food and are all use to delays like this.

heh...I like to be prepared and bring food when I head on a long drive but not because I'm expecting I might get stranded for days.
