rogerdogerNew Zealand is a nutty country in many ways. I can't believe how many teenage girls Ive seen that are pregnant and smoking. People say New Zealand is like England 40 years ago. I think they mean in the way of relaxed life style not being still in the dark ages as far as teen pregnancy and smoking while pregnant. They love talking about sex and their bowel movements too. The other day while sitting at a picnic table in the forest, a family with their 17 year old son were talking about how they hoped he was "covering up" when he was on the job, this was said matter of factly in front of another family including their 10 year old daughter. And now just in the kitchen and dinning room block at the camp site a very nice lady while doing the dishes calls out to her maybe 11 or 12 year old daughter, "hey mate take Johnny ( I dont remember his real name) to the toilet I think he wants to take a dump".
Been thinking that maybe coming back to NZ in October might not be a bad idea. That puts me here at the beginning of Spring and the start of their holiday and tourist seasons. With the news I got yesterday on the maps I really think I could put a couple of maps out. I can work on putting the map together while Im in india and also email the contacts I have here and start getting bookings for the ad spaces. If it doesn't work out, then at least Im in a country that I could find work and worst case I can get everything sold off and head back to the Uk to re think things with still some money in my pocket.
The other benefit of this plan is it gives me a possible 6 month window to train in. I'm pretty disappointed with my race, but I guess what did I expect. Its been two years since Ive raced. You never go as hard as you can until you race. It would be now that I need to build on the gains Ive made. But no I'll be off traveling and its just impossible to get the intensity needed. Its only now that I'm reminded of just how hard I use to work out and I'm no where near that level anymore. So how did I expect to produce a better result.
