Meeting people in Thailand
Jun. 17th, 2009 10:01 pmMeeting lots of interesting people the last few days. Met a english guy the first day in Chiang Mai that says he use to race motorcycles and we had a good long chat about the roads up here to ride. he lives here and runs some sort of digital movie thing. Then met an American guy who owns the big mountain bike shop in town. Bit disappointed with the quality of his rental bikes for such an awesome place to ride. but he is interesting and so is his business. Then met two American's who are teaching English as a foreign language down in Bangkok. Ive met others doing this, but these guys actually did their course here in Thailand to learn how to teach, they also told me about a volunteer program they worked at which sounded really cool. Its an orphanage in Phucket a really touristy part of Southern Thailand's but still very beautiful beaches. the orphanage is focused on soccer and sounded like a lot of fun. i was thinking maybe something for me to try, not only for the teaching experience but might help with ideas if I do the mountain bike stuff for kids in Nepal.
Looks like Ive scoped out a good deal on a sweet little Yamaha 2 stroke 150 for my rides around the mountains.
