I forgot to mention that the American guy I met yesterday that rents the mountain bikes is about my age. i told him I was hesitant about going straight out on the trip because my stomach had been playing up again for the 10 or 20th time over the last year. He started telling me he had something similar and his was bad enough he thought he was having a heart attack. Turned out his was related to stomach acids. Suddenly that little light went on in my head. Stress, acid, upset stomach. It all made sense. he suggested Nexium, but I have some generic antacid. Took it yesterday and instantly no more problem!

Met this American girl that is doing her PH.D here in Chiang Mai. She asked if I wanted to join her and some friends for dinner. Fun night with John also doing his PH.D and this totally cute Thai girl that speaks perfect..American. Also about to be excepted for a visa for the US to do her PH.D Hope I see her again! And John is cool too as he is a pretty keen cyclist.

Rented this raggedy little Yamaha TZM 150 two stroke. Its freaking awesome, has the crazy 2 stroke kick and flys. I ran around town today lost trying to find my way to this mountain road. Eventually found the road..whoaa wow what a road. Imaculately clean and in perfect condition and twisty! holy cow its the best road ive ever ridden. Ran out of gas, but thats another story. Im getting pretty good at taking care of things in Asia so I hardly missed a beat, hoped in a songteaw (shared taxi) and explained what had happened in sort of sign language. he stopped off at his buddys place borrowed a gas can ran me to the gas station and back to my bike all for the cost of $2!

When I got back to the rental place which is actually a bar, I got talking with Mark the owner. He is this big fat Aussy guy that hardly says anything. Ive tried to question him before and didn't get much response, i guess because I came back and actually did rent the bike and was obviously a biker kinda guy, he suddenly opened up to me and we had a huge chat. While eating at his bar I met a Dutch guy that had his month long trip to Thailand all planned out with his girlfriend then the week before they broke up! He wasnt going to let that stop him so they still sat together on the flight out and then went their own ways when they hit the tarmac. While we were talking another guy sitting by himself joined in. He is from France, lives in Scotland and works on a Norwegian oil rig as a chef. Also a really big bike fan and also use to own a BMW GS 1200, so we had lots to chat about. What a cool guy and what a life he lives. Works 2 weeks on the rig then has a month off! Hes done it for 4 years now.

ok that was a big waffle. early to bed and hopefully a full day on the motorcycle tomorrow on what i'm told are even better roads.
