Civil war in atlanta

Here in the south there are markers all over the place commemorating the civil war. Just around my house I've seen a bunch. They look so out of place in an urban setting, surrounded by commerce and new housing. forgotten about and not noticed in everyones daily rush. Its hard to imagine the destruction that was going on here and the tragedy of brother fighting brother.

These are all within a mile of my house.



I read that they would erect a cannon on the site of a fallen General. Thats pretty major fighting when a General goes down and just within this mile two were killed.
