Wow I cant believe how cold it was today. Im sure its colder else where but for Ga this is cold. It felt like a good ole English summer day! It really did remind me of England and cold, overcast, dreary summer days. the wind was howling through the trees too. nether the less it didn't deter me from heading out to mountain bike.

So nice to take my time getting ready this morning, no rush, no schedule, no gota be back by such and such time to meet with some girl. Im really liking not having to be anywhere at anytime. If I start posting about how Ive met "the one" someone please remind me of this time.

So off to stone mountain and I wanted to get at least 15 miles in and then run for a bit. It was so damn cold at first and with the wind it was difficult to warm up. But I certainly wasnt going to over heat today and maybe thats what kept me going. I havent mountain biked that distance in a long time. the crank bolts worked perfect, no creaking at all, but the chain was jumping in the middle gears. So looks like I need a new rear cassette and if I do that then I need to replace the chain and if I do that I might need a new outer chain ring. I need to do it now too, so it will have time to stretch and bed in.

Knocked out a little over 16 miles and then changed shoes and ran the same trails. not really any jello feelings either. I figured with the race only two weeks away this was going to be my last chance for a distance workout and since I thought the race was 18 mile bike and 6 run i figured 16 miles on the bike and then at least 3 mile run. I ended up doing about 3 and a half miles and was really pleased with how it all went. I dont think I need much of a taper for this race other than back off in the last week. the only bad thing I see is this guy that i sorta know that is in my age group and won at the peachtree sprint tri, his swimming is slow, but his run and bike are really fast. he had two minutes on me at the last tri and since this is going to be longer bike and run, then he could get even further ahead on this one...poop

I checked the race details when i got home and the race is actually only 10 miles and 5 mile run, so todays is awesome practice, now I just need more speed!

I moved here in 92. Where you downtown? it was a great place back then, like a little club, with empty streets come 5.00pm.

The place I mountain biked at isnt actually stn mountain but on the east side of it at Yellow River.

Pointers for mountain biking? ..humm know your gears and know your brakes. Keep up a good cadence on hills to carry you over without trying to grind it out in too hard a gear.
